The most important trade fair centre in Spain will host the 2nd edition of the major international meeting for large volumes of olive oil. It is a decision that reflects the plans for future expansion of this international event

Madrid, 6 February 2013. The 2nd edition of the World Bulk Oil Exhibition will be held on 13-14 March in Hall 1 of Feria de Madrid. The agreement was signed this morning at IFEMA. World Bulk Oil Exhibition was represented by its president, Otilia Romero de Condés, and its director, while IFEMA was represented by its president, Luis Eduardo Cortés, and its managing director, Fermín Lucas.

That this event will be held for the first time at the IFEMA site is a step forward for an event which aspires to become a tool serving all members of the oil sector value chain, and the essential event to find the best prices in a constantly fluctuating market, bringing the producers of large volumes of quality olive oil together with the leading importers from all over the world. IFEMA-Feria de Madrid is the ideal location to host an international activity of this importance in Spain.

After signing the agreement, the director of the meeting, Santiago Botas, stressed that “the World Bulk Oil Exhibition seeks to be a meeting place for the olive oil industry's business, progress and future. With this event we hope to bring together exhibitors and buyers from all over the world, in a year when Spanish harvests, according to the assessment of the International Olive Council, could fall below 900,000 tonnes, after the record of over 1.6 million last year.”

Its president, Otilia Romero de Condés, agreed that “The World Bulk Oil Exhibition makes more sense than ever at a time when a lower harvest obliges mills to look for effective alternatives to get a better price for their oils, in an increasingly competitive market.”

IFEMA is the Madrid Trade Fair Institution. Its 30 years' experience organising trade fairs positions it as the leading operator in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. More than 80 trade fairs and 500 events a year are based at IFEMA and its Congress and Conventions area. Its management model and the quality and level of the services it provides for the users of its facilities are key factors in the success of the activities held at Feria de Madrid, now joined by the World Bulk Oil Exhibition.

The World Bulk Oil Exhibition, which was held for the first time in April 2012, was attended by 134 oil producers and packagers, and by more than 2,000 professionals from all over the world. The organisation now faces the challenge of growing and consolidating its initial success in its second edition, to be held on 13-14 March 2013.

IFEMA

Since its foundation, 85 million visitors and around 600,000 companies have taken part in more than 1,600 trade fairs held on the IFEMA site. This gives an idea of the activity the organisation generates and its positive impact on the commercial development of economic sectors and on its geographical area, where it brings in a spillover income of over 2 billion euros and creates more than 40,000 jobs.
One of IFEMA's main assets is the site at FERIA DE MADRID. It enjoys an exceptional location in its host city, in one of the most important business areas of the capital, which is home to activities of crucial importance for the economic development of the region. Feria de Madrid is connected to the main thoroughfares of the city with a road network guaranteeing easy access for visitors. Madrid Barajas Airport is just a few kilometres away, which facilitates access from anywhere in the world.

Participants also have the option of using public transport, especially the extensive network of the Madrid Metro, which connects any point in the city to the trade fair site.
