Organised by IFEMA and promoted by the FGEE, LIBER will be held from 9 to 11 October in Hall 7 at Feria de Madrid.

LIBER, the Feria Internacional del Libro (“International Book Fair”), returns to Madrid from 9 to 11 October 2019 to hold its 37th edition, with Sharjah as Guest of Honour. Organised by IFEMA and promoted by the Federación de Gremios de Editores de España (“Federation of Publishers’ Guilds of Spain”) (FGEE), this will be the largest international book fair for Spanish books, with the capacity to offer business opportunities to major publishing companies and invigorate the book market.

The event, consolidated as the main business platform dedicated to publishing in the Spanish language and one of the most important book fairs in the world, is open to all sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, self-publishing and intellectual property.

The positive result of the 2018 edition, held in Barcelona with nearly 11,000 professional visitors, reaffirms the Fair’s role in stimulating sales in the Spanish publishing sector, especially abroad.

LIBER 2019 will focus on both the digital evolution of books and self-publishing, with two specific areas. The Zona Digital (“Digital Zone”), where there will be companies with technological products and services related to the publishing, distribution and marketing of digital books, and different solutions for audio books. The Zona del Autor (“Author's Zone”), which will allow independent authors to learn about self-publishing tools and services related to the creation, production, sale and promotion of books.

The Fair will also become the best platform for new international markets to access books in Spanish through business meetings and reverse missions. More than 500 buyers and key influencers in the purchasing and distribution of books in foreign markets will be invited to LIBER 2019 with the aim of fostering commercial relations with participating publishing companies and promoting knowledge of the funds presented at the Fair. In this way, IFEMA will mainly receive booksellers, distributors and librarians, as well as editors with the ability to exert influence, decide and/or purchase books in Spanish from around the world.

Alongside the offerings from the major publishing houses, LIBER will host an interesting programme of parallel activities of a professional and cultural nature, which will be attended by big names from the publishing sector and will offer the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on current topics.

LIBER 2019 is a Fair sponsored by the Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte; ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones; Comunidad de Madrid; Ayuntamiento de Madrid; the Centro Español de Derechos Reprográficos (“Spanish Reproduction Rights Centre”) (CEDRO), and with the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Asociación de Editores de Madrid.
